THE VISION

The Astrolab: Space to Create is a music studio located in northern Rhode Island and operated by artist/producer/educator Avi David. Welcome!

Vision:

The Astrolab is a Project Studio - a mixed use space where recording, production, mixing, learning, practice and performance happen in the same room. The concept for the studio is modeled after iconic studios in serene locations that prioritize vibe, creativity, professionalism and workflow for whenever inspiration strikes. This is a SPACE TO CREATE. The studio is set up to feel both peaceful and energizing, a spot where artists can feel centered, alive and safe to take risks and be vulnerable → this is where creativity emerges and the real magic happens.

Design:

The Astrolab was carefully designed using precise measurements, math, physics and acoustic treatment for optimal sound with consultation from John Storyk (who designed Electric Lady Studios for Jimi Hendrix, as well as studios for Alicia Keys, Jay-Z, Whitney Houston and 3000 other pro artists), Lou Clark of Berklee/Sonic-Space, GIK Acoustics and Guitar Center Professional. Studio Monitors have been calibrated using Sonarworks SoundID Reference. All recording equipment is professional and top tier for clean, translatable and emotionally-rich mixes.
