FAQ

Why is it called the Astrolab? What’s with the outer space theme?

This is a SPACE to Create. People need to carve out SPACE in their lives to connect with their inner wells of creativity. My goal is to create a SPACE where artists can shed some gravity, let go of some of the weight of the world and float → This is where creativity emerges. An “Astrolabe” is an ancient scientific tool used to navigate space and time. Through creation at the Astrolab, artists are able to reconnect with their meaning, purpose, authentic selves and leave feeling better prepared to navigate this complex and often turbulent world.

I filled out the Booking form! How long will it take to get a reply?

Typically 24-48 hours.

How soon can I start recording at the Astrolab?

This depends on the time of year and how many projects we have in the works. Sometimes we’re booked solid for 2-3 months, sometimes we can squeeze in a session within a week.

How long will it take to get my mix back?

Depends on the size and scope of the project. We'll develop a timeline together at the time of booking.

How can I prepare for a recording session?

We’ll discuss this all in your introductory call and Project Development session, but here are some tips: Practice, practice, practice! Know your song well - or bring an idea and be ready to cook together. Think about how you want to record (simultaneous instruments vs individual tracking/layering). Bring materials that might be useful (lyrics, chord charts, sheet music, chart of form). Let go of fear of judgment - we’re all here to create and grow together.

How can I prepare for music lessons?

Practice daily/weekly! Get a free metronome app. Use a folder or notebook to keep materials organized. Ask lots of questions.

What type of payment do you accept?

Cash or checks payable to Avram David, Venmo, Cashapp, Zelle or PayPal

I’m interested in booking a session but your rates are a bit out of my budget. Can we still work together?

Let’s talk! I have some availability to take on clients at reduced rates and there are plenty of ways to raise money to invest in your music career (grants, crowd-funding, etc). We can discuss ideas in our introductory call.

I have a question that isn't listed here. How do I get in touch?

You can always reach out with questions and concerns! At the Astrolab, we value honesty, transparency, fairness and open communication. Feel free to email, call, text or complete the form on the "Contact Us" page.
